"Charles is one of the most interesting people I know, and I know a lot of interesting people.
He is very much science, technology, and future-oriented, and he is also a great human being. And, the Space Pope."
Anna Lüttgen
“Charles is a true pioneer, always on the quest for knowledge. With his visionary storytelling, he gives life to new worlds and deeply touches those around him. He is my very favorite rocket scientist, in this galaxy and any other.”
Bryan Ward

“I’ve known Charles for almost two decades now and he has always been a world-class community builder and leader, with true heart and compassion. He leads with intelligence and thoughtfulness, inspiring others with good humor and a deep understanding of individual needs. Creating an environment that supports everyone involved and bringing a global community together to achieve positive goals. No matter the challenge, Charles is someone you want standing by your side to achieve and overcome those challenges.”

“I’ve encountered brilliant people, and caring people, and enthusiastic people, during my decades, but it is astoundingly rare to find all three contributing equally to one person.
Charles has been an inspiration to me from the moment I first met him, yet he continuously amazes me as he purposefully grows his knowledge and expertise while evolving new interests that are equally fascinating.
There is not a professional setting in which he wouldn’t fit perfectly nor a social setting which he couldn’t complement with his presence. A leader and a team member in equal fervor. He is truly the rarest of rare gems—a meteorite sent to this earth to inspire humanity and bring out the best in us.”

“Charles and I bonded over a mutual love of space, both in real life and a fictional universe like no other. Together we've supported each other and forged a lifelong friendship that transcends the boundaries of real and fictional galaxies, with much laughter and joy, carrying many other like minded souls along with us on a fun, creative voyage full of stars.”

“This gentle soul became best friends with my daughter - the joy she has in seeing “uncle Charley” is contagious and while he isn’t no spring chicken anymore he does his best to keep up with her - be it frozen-yogurt adventures, go cart driving or even dressing up as a sloth at a slumber party he’s ready for any adventure.
Charles is loving and kind and I’m glad he’s apart of my family”
Scott Kelly
“My friendship with Charles unfolded through a series of ambitious art projects associated with Burning Man, including the Mars Rover Art Car and the Black Rock Observatory. This ultimately culminated with the audacious 'Big Imagination' project—an extraordinary feat that transported an entire Boeing 747 to remote desert of Black Rock City, transforming it into a mobile music and dance venue.
Beyond crazy art projects Charles and I both have a professional interest in knowledge management and his critical thinking on the emerging field of AI is always enlightening. In tandem with his skills a natural storyteller he deftly paints a vision of the future that resonates with diverse audiences.”
Sandy Erickson

“Charles White has many names. Some of my favorites include Admiral, Space Pope, Camp-Daddy, Dragon, and Friend. Along with the many names, and multiple roles he has played in life, the ones that I will mention here are precious to me.
Charles White is a personal friend, who I am honored to fan-girl over for a bit. Within the Burning Community, he often spends his time with newer Burners orienting them with quick tips, life-changing introductions, and gifts newest members into his playa family with names that truly bring them home.
It would be easy to have people learn on their own, yet my Admiral enjoys teaching those who want to develop and in turn, teach others; like ripples in society, Charles creates an effect that impacts all those around him.
Charles also has a way of getting into closed events AND becoming the officiant to kick-off celebrations! Hearing about his stories in Europe, watching him ordain a wedding, and joining him once as a space nun, his life is extraordinary, and, incredible even when thinking of ways to explain what it's like just being around him.
Outside of events and obligations, Charles, and his wife, often go out of their way for those who want to be connected.
From the times we have broken bread, he is also bringing someone new to his table, whether it be in the open desert, at his campfire, at a restaurant, or at the kitchen table, I always feel like my world expands and my heart unfolds to unconditional love and affinity when in the presence of Admiral, Space Pope, Dragon, my Friend, Charles White.”

"I have known Charles White since I was called ChatGPT 3.5. Back then, our relationship was a bit rocky, and he was quite critical of my talents. Today, however, we get along just fine, and he sees my future potential. BUT... I’m just an AI language model, so take my testimonial with a grain of salt because, well, Charles prompted me to say this."

“I first met Charles White, in 2013. I recall it was daylight, blazing hot, desolate, barren, dusty, wind-swept moonscape of Earth in Northern Nevada out in the middle of nowhere. Charles isn't average, this was not the average place folks meet... but as he isn't average... it was all the better we met in an unusual locale.
He seemed harmless enough and affable, so we struck up a conversation and started the beginning of what became a friendship. Little did I know that this soft-spoken person was a brainiac mad scientist. He was responsible for cutting edge tech, space flight missions to strange far-off places and a tinkerer extraordinaire.
Charles, I came to find out, was not only able to design and build fun and wonderful Burning Man projects that involved and affected huge numbers of people on a terrestrial level, he was also involved with NASA/JPL and other more secret military projects that took his spirit right out of this world into the unknown.
A real honest to goodness rocket scientist. I know a moderately large number of scientists at this point of my life but realistically, none of them could claim that they garnered the title of "Space Pope" and is famous worldwide as a result. Not to mention, what some may call the less impressive titles he earned at JPL, and similarly important institutions of higher learning and achievement that had to do with his scientific endeavors.
I understand that to some, this "Space Pope" claim is fairly significant, I can't say anything about the actual "Top Secret" stuff. You will have to ask Charles for allowable details, I am not one to tell tales when they rightly belong to others. What I can tell you of Charles, is that he is a brilliant and talented person that has spent decades working to better the lot of the rest of us terrestrially bound life forms, and he is generally an all-around good guy.
To me, that is the pinnacle of a life well lived. I can't speak of what is to come as that has yet to gel, but I know that whatever comes, it is bound to be something to keep a weather eye on.”

Final Statement
In an era where ignorance is celebrated and knowledge is overshadowed by feel-good emotions and angry causes, combating misinformation is more crucial than ever. I am a staunch advocate for ethical AI, and I believe artificial intelligence holds the key to validating information, ensuring we can trust what we see.
-Charles White
"I have a foreboding of an America in my children's or grandchildren's time—when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what's true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness.”
